Kylie Minogue and Dionne Warwick also paid tribute to Newton-John, calling her an inspiration and describing her as “one of the nicest people I’ve had the pleasure of recording and performing with.”

Newton-John was diagnosed with cancer in 1992 and has since become a leading voice in the fight against the disease. Thousands of pounds have been donated to research through the Olivia Newton-John Foundation, founded by the singer. Queen Elizabeth II recognized her contributions to the field by bestowing a damehood on her in the New Year’s Honours list for 2020.

She died on Monday, according to her husband, John Easterling. He called her “a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years” in an emotional statement on her social media accounts.

During an interview with CBS News in 2019, following her third breast cancer diagnosis, she explained how she coped.

“At some point in time, I realized that it was consuming my day and that I needed to enjoy my life, so I decided to indulge in a cookie,” she said. “Because everyday living and enjoying life’s simple pleasures are essential to the healing process. As a result, “I’ve chosen that path because the other side isn’t so good.”
