The Olympian married Andrew East in April of 2016 in Tennessee; the couple then revealed that they had a miscarriage the following year. In April of this year, they made public the good news of a new addition to the family.
The author of Winning Balance wrote the message “You are our everything” for her daughter Drew’s Instagram reveals seven months later. As the saying goes, “Welcome to the world, baby girl.” Johnson and East announced their second pregnancy in 2020, and their son Jett was born in July 2021.
After being married for over two years, the couple announced they were expecting again. “We definitely waited a lot longer to tell you guys and, I’m not gonna lie, it’s a little bittersweet,” she said during a July 2023 episode of their “Couple Things” podcast. “I’ve kind of loved having it to be ours. … This has been so fun to have between us.”

Who is Shawn Johnson?
Former American artistic gymnast Shawn Johnson is now worth $9 million. Olympic gold and silver medals for artistic gymnastics helped Shawn Johnson amass a sizeable fortune. Shawn Douglas Johnson, the sole child of Doug and Teri Johnson, was born on January 19, 1992, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Shawn’s parents signed her up for gymnastics when she was three years old to keep her from getting into mischief, but now it’s become her life’s work. She began training with Chow and Li at Chow’s Gymnastics and Dance in West Des Moines when she was just six years old, and by the time she was seven, she was already competing.
Shawn, a member of the Junior International Elite, outscored all of her senior elite competitors at the 2006 U.S. Junior National All-Around Championship. A year after joining the senior U.S. squad, she won the all-around and floor exercise titles at the 2007 World Championships.
At the 2008 Olympics, this young woman won the balance beam gold medal and placed second in the team competition, the all-around competition, and the floor exercise. Johnson, however, announced her permanent retirement from gymnastics on June 3, 2012, despite her successful career.

What is Johnson and Andrew’s Relationship Timeline?
The bond between Shawn Johnson and Andrew East is gold-medal worthy. When the gymnast was in London to comment on the 2012 Olympics for NBC, she met the ex-NFL star through his brother, Guy East. As for Guy, he was out there racing bicycles.
“He starts to go on this tangent about this little brother of his and how I have to meet him,” Johnson recalled in a 2018 vlog. Andrew, who was attending Vanderbilt University in Nashville at the time, was intrigued by the idea that the gold medalist was thinking of going to the same school.
After Johnson won the mirrorball trophy in season 8, the football player travelled to Los Angeles to meet the highly decorated athlete who was filming season 15 of Dancing With the Stars. After dating for three years, Andrew proposed during a Cubs game at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Their wedding took place in 2016.
Despite the joy they’d found in each other, the Easts had a terrible year in 2017 when Johnson miscarried after a failed pregnancy. Guy, Andrew’s older brother, was instrumental in setting up the Olympic athlete with his sibling. The two embarked on their first date after the Vanderbilt grad flew to L.A. to meet Johnson. The couple announced their miscarriage in October 2017. Andrew comforted Johnson by saying, “We’ve grown through it babe,” in the sappy video blog. And I just want you to know how proud I am of you. The athletes welcomed their firstborn, daughter Drew, into the world via C-section in late October 2019. “Drew Hazel East 8lbs 8oz 20.5 inches long 10/29/19,” Johnson captioned the first photo of her baby, which she shared via Instagram. “Named after the most incredible person I know… her daddy.”

After two years, the East welcomed their son Jett into the world. The baby was given a new name by his new family. The Olympic gold champion announced his new Instagram name, “Jett James East,” the Olympic gold medalist shared via Instagram at the time. Jett is “her great great great grandmother’s name,” while James is “Andrew’s brother’s name,” she added.
