Tokyo Ravens Season 2 Cancelled? Its Plot, Cast, Release Date Status (Latest Update)

It has been seven years, and the eight-bit studio is still not ready to say anything about Tokyo Ravens season 2.

Tokyo Ravens are the adaptation of a light novel series by Kohen Azzano and follow the fantasy romance genre filled with onmyouji magic and shamans. Season one of the show ended on a cliffhanger, and since then, fans are waiting to know if Harutora and Natsume’s love evolved or if Harutora kept his pledge of visiting Natsume as he promised.

If the second season doesn’t come, we will never know the answer to these questions. The only way to get closure to the series is to read the novel series, but that is not possible for the English fans as these anime series do not get translated.

So, if there is no official announcement, does it mean that season 2 of Tokyo Ravens is canceled? Here is what we know.

Tokyo Ravens Season 2: Do We Have Enough Source Material?

The anime TV series are mostly the translations of light novels, visual novels, manga series, or video games and are only created to popularize the source content. The production of such shows also depends on whether the novel series has a widespread fan base.

We know that Tokyo Ravens lost its popularity towards the end, which might be a possible reason why author Kohei Azzano is not interested in writing any more parts.

But does that mean the end of source content?

Those of you who have read the novel series must know that Tokyo Ravens has 16 volumes published in Japan, and it also has six manga series.

The plot of season 1 was based on the initial nine volumes, which produced 24 episodes. That means we still have seven volumes left for the sequel.

The story of season 2 would pick up from the 10th volume, and we might get a proper closure by the end of the 16th volume.

The Plot: What Can We Expect From Season 2?

The Anime TV series Tokyo Ravens revolves around Tsuchimikado Harutora, born into the prestigious onmyoji family. However, he could not inherit the supernatural powers that his family possesses. As a result, he finds no meaning in his life. Most of Harutora’s time is spent in his onmyo school with his friends. Little did he know that his life will change when he meets Natsume, his childhood friend.

In the last episode, we saw Harutora leaving with Hishamaru and Kakugyouji and promising Natsume that he will revisit her. Harutora and Natsume kissed each other and expressed their true feelings for each other. The show ended, and we are still waiting to see if Harutora and Natsume love got any direction.

The sequel will start from where it left, and it would be thrilling to see the story moving further. Also, if there are only seven volumes left for season 2, then we know that it will be the last season of the show.

Tokyo Ravens Season 2: The Cast (Who Can We Expect?)

Since there is no official announcement regarding season 2, we do not know if there will be any new characters. But we know who is coming back in their characters. We will see Kaito Ishikawa as Harutaro, Kana Hanazawa as Natsume, Ryohei Kimura as Touji, Ayane Sakura as Suzuka, Eri Kitamura as Kyouko, and  Hiro Shimono as Tenma.

Will We Ever Get The Tokyo Ravens Season 2? The Truth!

For the last seven years, there have been numerous petitions filed online to renew the show. Along with signed petitions, social media is also flooded with requests to get a sequel.

The only purpose of producing an anime series of the novel series is to boost the novel’s sales. However, we know that in the end, the Tokyo Ravens sale got a full stop which caused loss to the author. This means that readers do not want any addition to the story. However, the viewer’s opinion is contrary to that.

And despite the innumerable requests of viewers, the show’s creators have shown zero interest in announcing any official notices regarding the sequel.

But unlike US shows, these anime series are dependent on their source novel for the show’s content. And fortunately, we have enough sources and massive demand for the sequel to come.
