Tyre Nichols Wife: Not Seen To Resist In Police Beating Video
Three days after a traffic stop by the Memphis Police Department on January 7, 2023, Tyre Nichols passed away on January 10. On January 8, the Memphis Police Department said that Nichols’ traffic stop was the result of reckless driving; on January 27, the Memphis police chief said the footage showed no indication of probable cause for the traffic stop.
During the initial scuffle that followed the traffic stop, cops used pepper spray and a taser. Nichols ran away on foot, and a short distance later, officers from the Memphis Police Department caught up to him and punched and kicked Nichols in the face and smacked his back with a baton. A number of media publications said that the footage showed no signs of resistance by Nichols or any apparent provocation by the officers during the attack.

The family said that Tyre Nichols, the man killed in the Memphis beating, cherished his role as a parent. It’s been said that Nichols, who adored his son, would frequently share photos of the pair on social media.
Their lawyer, Benjamin Crump, was quoted by CNN as saying at a news conference: “Everything he was attempting to do was to better himself as a father for his four-year-old boy.” “When he enters through the door, he wants to give you a hug,” Crump stated on behalf of Nichols’ family.
The deceased had relocated to Memphis from another city soon before the Covid-19 outbreak hit. His new residence had become inaccessible after he had moved there. However, Wells explains, her son accepted the situation because he loved his mom.

Vice President Joe Biden of the United States expressed his “deep sadness” at seeing the “horrific” video. The assault was compared by Mr. Nichols’ attorneys to the beating of Los Angeles driver Rodney King by police in 1991.
Friday night, after the video was posted, there were peaceful protests in Memphis, with some demonstrators blocking a key highway in the city, and smaller protests were also conducted in other cities around the country. Banners calling for Mr. Nichols’s release and an end to “police terror” were carried by several of the protesters.
