Portugal 30-year-old Pup Named World Oldest Dog Days After Last Canine
A new winner has been announced just days after Spike the chihuahua was officially awarded the World’s Oldest Living Dog by Guinness World Records.
On January 19, 2019, Spike, at the age of 23, was named the world’s oldest living dog by Guinness World Records, but on February 2, 2019, the organization reported that it had received evidence of a dog that was much older: Bobi, at the age of 30.
The longevity of Bobi was confirmed by Guinness World Records, who then named him the Oldest Living Dog and Oldest Dog in History. According to Guinness World Records, Bobi, who turned 30 on February 2nd, is a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo, a breed with a lifespan of 12-14 years. The Costa family of Portugal are current owners of a geriatric dog. Check the tweet below:

Leonel Costa, Bobi’s 38-year-old owner, was just 8 years old when his puppy was born. He told Guinness that Bobi is “one of a kind” and that he and the family’s four cats get along famously. It is unclear what, if any, secrets to the long life Bobi may possess, but his loved ones hope he will reveal them.
If Bobi could talk, only he could explain his success, as Costa told Guinness: “Bobi has been a warrior for all these years; only he knows how he’s been holding on, it must not be easy because the average dog’s life expectancy is not that high.” “We are really thankful that after 30 years we still get to have Bobi as a part of our daily lives.

His furry friend’s newfound fame as a Guinness World Records holder brings him “immense delight,” he said. As of this writing, Bobi is the new Oldest Dog Ever, surpassing Bluey by a full year. In November of 1939, Bluey, an Australian cattle dog, passed away at the ripe old age of 29 years and five months.
Bobi, who was born on his family’s farm in Conqueiros, Portugal on May 11, 1992, had a scare with his health in 2018 when he collapsed and was taken to the hospital with respiratory difficulties.
The world’s longest-living pet has age-related vision and mobility problems, but he’s still living up to his illustrious ancestors’ standards. Gira, Bobi’s mom, made it to age 18, while Chicote, another family dog, made it to age 22.
