What To Know About The 3rd Stimulus Check Amount
The American Rescue Plan Act, which includes the third round of stimulus payments, was signed into law by President Biden on March 11, 2021. These funds represent a prepayment on a short-term credit due in 2021. The payment is worth up to $1,400 for each eligible adult and qualifying dependent in a household. As an example, a family of four may potentially earn $5,600.
Who Is Eligible?
There are some changes between the first and second stimulus checks, despite the fact that eligibility is very similar. We need to meet four main criteria:
1. Income: The same income requirements as the first two stimulus checks apply to this third and final payment. There is no minimum income needed to get the payment. For single persons, the full payment will be made if their adjusted gross income (AGI) is less than $75,000; for married couples filing jointly, the amount is up to $150,000; and for those filing as head of household, it is up to $112,000. For those with higher incomes, the third stimulus payment is the beginning of the end. The third stimulus check has a lower maximum income limit than the first two. Earning more than $80,000 as a single filer ($160,000 as a married couple, $120,000 as a head of household) in 2020 disqualifies you from receiving the third stimulus cheque.
2. Social Security Number: This requirement is different from the first and second stimulus checks. The third stimulus check can be given to any family member with a valid Social Security number (SSN), or any dependant (regardless of age). For example, in a family where both parents have ITINs, and their children have SSNs, the youngsters qualify for stimulus checks, even though the parents don’t.
At least one spouse must have a valid S.S. number to receive any of the stimulus checks. The spouse who does have a Social Security number, as well as any qualifying dependents who also have a Social Security number or an Adoption Taxpayer Identification Number (ATIN), can receive the payment if the couple files a joint tax return. If one spouse is serving in the military at the present time, then both spouses can get a stimulus payment even if only one has a Social Security number and the other has an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.
3. Dependency: The requirement for dependency is the same as it was for the first and second stimulus checks. Your third stimulus check will not be issued if you file your taxes as a dependent of someone else. Dependents can be any age as long as they have an SSN or ATIN and you claim them for an extra $1,400. The third stimulus check does not demand proof of age like the first two did.
4. Citizenship or Residency: The requirements for citizenship or residency are the same as the first and second stimulus checks. You can’t apply unless you’re a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, or a resident alien with special eligibility requirements.
Which Of My Dependents Qualifies For The Third Stimulus Check?
All of your dependents, regardless of age, are eligible for the third stimulus check. This means you can get an extra $1,400 for each dependent you have, whether they are minors or adults. When the first and second stimulus checks were issued, only dependent children under the age of 17 were eligible for the extra cash payment.
Can I Get The Third Stimulus Check If I Am In Jail?
The first, second, and third stimulus checks can be received even if you are currently serving time in an American prison or jail, provided you meet all other eligibility requirements.

Is There A Deadline To Collect My Third Stimulus Check?
If you will be filing a comprehensive tax return, you have until the IRS closes its tax filing software on November 20, 2021. Even if you wait until 2022 to file your taxes, you can still receive the third stimulus payment if you qualify. If you don’t have to file taxes, the deadline to use GetCTC.org is November 15, 2021. GetCTC.org is a streamlined tax filing platform for those who do not file tax returns and can be used to obtain the Recovery Rebate Credit. GetCTC was developed by Code for America in conjunction with the White House and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The Treasury Department. Access to the platform is not restricted to those applying for the Child Tax Credit advance payments.
