‘Behind The Table’: A Special Podcast Series From ‘the View’

With its new podcast, “Behind the Table,” “The View” takes an amazing journey inside the chat show that has been making headlines since Barbara Walters first uttered the phrase, “I had this idea for a show.”

Walters set out in 1997 to create a show that celebrated strong women and their different viewpoints. The Emmy-winning chat show is celebrating its broadcast success with a special podcast series twenty-five years later. 

“Behind the Table” will premiere new episodes every Tuesday, featuring candid and revealing conversations, never-before-heard stories, firsthand details behind headline-making controversies, and moments that firmly cemented the talk show in pop culture history from the incredible women who have sat at the infamous Hot Topics table.

Meredith Vieira, Sherri Shepherd, Lisa Ling, and other former and present co-hosts discuss exclusive interviews with celebrities, newsmakers, and politicians, as well as behind-the-scenes incidents and on-air Twitter chats.

Whoopi Goldberg and Brian Teta, “The View,” reflect on the final nine episodes of our podcast series in which co-hosts commented on their time on the show and celebrated its 25th season.

Following Meghan McCain’s departure from the program last season, Goldberg and Teta talk about how to fill the fifth place at the table and the value of having different viewpoints on the show. Although, Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar of “The View” have returned to the studio when they were still working from home.

They sat down to talk about their experience on the show. She is the longest-serving host in the history of “View,” and she brings a combination of humor and strong political views to the show every day. 

Whoopi joined the show in 2007 and has been at the helm ever since. They explore why they joined the show, look back on their time with other co-hosts, and analyze some of the most talked-about moments from their time as co-hosts in this episode when they become the hot topic and they sit down and talk about the many things they share.

On the broadcast, Abby talks about her pregnancy and the birth of twins. She also discusses how becoming a co-host boosted her self-esteem and improved her life. Despite their differences on many issues, Jedidiah Bila and Sunny Hostin became excellent friends during season 20 of “The View.”

In this week’s “Behind the Table,” Jedidiah recognizes Sunny and Whoopi with helping her in discussing racial issues and they reflect on the joy and some light-hearted terror for Sunny they had when “The View” visited Walt Disney World.

Later, Jedidiah talks about her biggest regret from her time, as well as how she felt about leaving her co-hosting position. On “Behind the Table,” Matenopoulos discusses how he got the position at the age of 22 and how it all began when they auditioned for the show together.
