California Gas Rebate: Here’s When Gas Rebates Will Land And How Much You’ll Get
Gas prices are going up again across the country and in California after a 14-week decline. But help is on the way now.
California Gas Rebate
The price of gasoline in the Valley has increased alongside the rest of California, by as much as 35 cents per gallon during the past week. Regular unleaded is selling for an average of $5.67 a gallon in Fresno. It’s up 28 cents from the previous week and nearly 40 cents from a month ago.
The average price of gasoline in Merced County is now $5.66 per gallon, and in Tulare County, it is $5.63.
Torres explained his reasoning: “It’s the nearest one off the interstate, so it’s a convenience kind of thing.”
We tracked down Victor Miranda, a driver for DoorDash and Uber Eats, at one of the cheapest gas stations in town. “That’s the first thing on my mind – what’s the lowest – even if I have to drive a little bit out of the way. I’m going to be driving around Fresno anyways,” Miranda said.
On Monday, as we drove through central Fresno, we saw rates as high as $5.59 and $6.29, but a few miles up the road, we saw prices as low as $4.97 and $5.09. According to AAA spokesman John Treanor, problems at nearby refineries are to blame.
“Predominantly, what we are seeing in the western parts of the United States are issues with oil refineries, both planned maintenance and unplanned maintenance, which is affecting the supply,” Treanor said.
However, many Californians will soon get some relief. The state’s Middle-Class Tax Refund, more commonly referred to as the gas rebate check, will begin arriving in mailboxes next week.
Carbon Tax is 11.9 cents a litre on fuel.
Carbon tax will TRIPLE to .399 cents 2030.75 Litres a week, so $8.95 extra. Over 4 months fuel costs an extra $143 just in CARBON TAXES. PLUS, Natural Gas doubled from $110 to $215 a month.

Miranda said, “Like two full tanks for me – probably last me a month maybe, even over that depending on how much I drive. It would mean a lot.” The direct deposits will start as early as October 7 and run through January 2023.
