Ghosts Season 4 Release Date Status, Cast, Plot And All We Know
There will be another season of the BBC One comedy Ghosts, so fans can rest easy and continue to create their own ghost stories. However, there is no word yet on whether there will be a fifth season, unlike seasons two and three, which were both confirmed simultaneously.
On the Distraction Pieces podcast, Mary’s co-star Katy Wix first broke the news of the show’s renewal. She said it casually when talking about the writing process:
“Ghosts – am I allowed to say that? I don’t want to get in trouble. I’ve often gotten in trouble for announcing things when they haven’t been announced. That starts in January…”
The beginning of production was also revealed by co-writer Jim Howick, who also plays Pat Butcher, after he uploaded a picture of Button house with the message, “Hello old thing. Rehearsal week begins for series 4….”

The creators of the show said, “We are thrilled to be returning to Button House for a fourth series. We have an exciting batch of new stories in store and can’t wait to share the next chapter.”
Director of Comedy Jon Petrie said, “We can’t wait to return to Button House for series 4. Ghost is a true jewel in BBC Comedy’s crown, and we’re delighted to be working again with the cast and creators, and Monumental (Television), who never fails to deliver a faultless combination of big laughs and loads of heart.”

Release Date for Ghosts Season 4
The BBC has yet to make an official announcement regarding when the show will premiere. However, if the prior seasons are any indication, we may expect it to premiere in August or early September of 2022.
Meanwhile, we can revisit all of the previous seasons and specials.
The Cast of Ghosts Season 4
All of the main characters are expected to return for season 4. The core cast includes Lolly Adefope, Katy Wix, Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard, and Ben Willbond.
Without Alison (Charlotte Ritchie) and Mike (Kiell Smith-Bynoe), owners of Button House, the show wouldn’t be complete. We’d want to see Barclay and Bunny Beg-Chetwynde (Geoff McGivern and Sophie Thompson) return to their irritating neighboring property.
The Christmas special included Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous) as Fanny’s mother, so it’s possible that she may return if we the creators deeper into Fanny’s narrative in season four.
In an interview, Charlotte Ritchie discussed her experience working with the cast, “It’s heaven. They’re so funny. All of them are so funny. They’re just genius, every single actor on that… I feel insanely grateful that I do it.”
The Plot of Ghosts Season 4
Alison’s “long lost sister” Lucy was the focus of the third season’s overall plot. Lucy’s story unravels as Alison’s money is put on the line, leading to a showdown in the final episode.
A variety of events, from community service projects to full-blown weddings, can be expected at Button House during the course of the next season, as Alison and Mike continue to host them.
Hopefully, we’ll get a better understanding of the lives of the ghosts as well deaths. From Robin’s life through Kitty’s death and more, there are still many personalities we have yet to investigate.
Ritchie said, “We learned a bit more about Kitty’s backstory, but we didn’t learn, for example, how she died. We know a bit more about the Captain’s backstory but we haven’t found out how he died. We know about Mary and I sort of hope we never see Mary’s death because it’s just too horrific…”
According to Ghosts creator Laurence Rickard, the writing team has been collecting tale ideas, so there’s a lot to look forward to.
In addition, Matthew Baynton said, “We know that people are excited by finding out the mysteries that we still have left, but we also know that once they’re gone, that will be a shame.
“So we’re seeping things out in a way that, I hope, is as fun for the audience as it is for us. There are a couple more backstories in the next series.
“I think it’s fair to say you’ll find out one of the deaths that are as yet unexplained, but they’ll still be more unexplained for the future.”
