Authorities did not provide many details about the murders beyond the fact that a rifle was used to kill Maggie Murdaugh and a shotgun to kill Paul Murdaugh.

The prosecution has not provided specific evidence connecting Murdaugh to the homicides. There has been no confession or witness statement about the murders submitted to the court as of yet. On the eve of trial, neither weapon has been recovered, and there is no sign that it will be.

But since he discovered the death of his wife and youngest son, both shot several times at the family estate in June 2021, he has sworn he is not the killer. On Monday, a jury of 12 will begin deliberating on whether or not they agree.
