Onstage at a Concert in His Hometown of Detroit, Jack White Gets Engaged and Marries Olivia Jean

The Couple Married in Front of Their Sold-out Audience

Soon after Jack White proposed to his girlfriend Olivia Jean while singing “Hotel Yorba,” together, the couple married in front of their sold-out audience onstage.

Fans were treated to a White wedding on Friday as Jack White and girlfriend Olivia Jean exchanged vows on stage, as confirmed by PEOPLE.

He surprised the Black Belles frontwoman, 32, with an engagement ring during a duet of the White Stripes’ “Hotel Yorba” minutes before the surprise ceremony in their hometown of Detroit at the Masonic Temple.

“‘Let’s get married in a big cathedral by a priest.’ 04.08.22,” Jack White captioned a photo of himself proposing to Olivia Jean, referencing the lyrics of “Hotel Yorba”.

According to White’s spokesperson, “the marriage is legal and valid.”

With the sold-out event, White’s mother Teresa Gillis, and Jean’s father Brent Markel were in attendance for the impromptu wedding. Jack White asked the  audience, “It’s been such a great day, mind if we get married right now?”

Ben Swank, a co-founder of White’s Third Man Records, served as Third Man. Preceding his promises, he referenced the 1984 Prince single “Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life, Let’s Go Crazy.”

This was White’s fourth solo record and he sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the Detroit Tigers’ season opener earlier that day.

White Stripes bandmate Meg White divorced Jack in 2000, yet he still goes by the name “White.” He married British model Karen Elson, 43, from 2005 to 2013 and has two children with her, Scarlett Teresa, 15, and Henry Lee, 14.
