Fans who were able to make the trip to Comic-Con this past weekend got an exclusive first look at the trailer for James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” but those who couldn’t are still out of luck because the trailer hasn’t been released online.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Trailer Hasn’t Been Released Online
However, on Sunday, Gunn calmed the nerves of a disappointed fan who blamed Marvel for holding back by explaining that the delay wasn’t just because “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” sucked up all the oxygen, but rather, it had something to do with the trailer’s visual effects.
“It’s not just Marvel, it’s also me. Although I love the teaser, some VFX isn’t where I’d want them to be for repeated views and close inspection,” Gunn wrote on Twitter. “Remember we didn’t wrap long ago – so you’ll have to wait for just a beat! Sorry!”
It’s also important to note that Marvel often reserves special footage for fans to view at Comic-Con that they don’t release online, including footage that may not have finalized visual effects.
Those who didn’t catch the trailer in Hall H can rest assured that Will Poulter will be making his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut as Adam Warlock in the upcoming Phase 5 film.
On the Hall H stage, Gunn also revealed that this third “Guardians” film would conclude the arcs of the characters introduced in the first film, though this does not mean that any of the main characters will perish.
Even as studios try to deal with the fallout from the COVID work stoppages, it has become common practice to delay or reschedule the release of high-budget movies while they wait for the completion of CGI and visual effects.
