The Rise of the Dragon Will Be Out Later This Year
There’s no denying that The Winds of Winter fans are anxiously awaiting any new information. A Song of Ice and Fire books by George R.R Martin, on the other hand, will have to wait a little longer.
The author has just revealed that there will be a new book out later in 2022. The book, The Rise of the Dragon, is linked to the Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon.
“A lavish visual history of House Targaryen” according to George R.R. Martin’s blog, will be the primary emphasis of The Rise of the Dragon. Some New illustrations representing Targaryens who appear in House of the Dragon will be used in Martin’s new book”, George says.
Despite the fact that George R.R. Martin’s novel Fire and Blood served as the inspiration for the prequel to Game of Thrones, the author was keen to point out the differences between the two books.
George Martin said, “What’s the difference between The Rise of the Dragon and Fire & Blood? Think of The Rise of the Dragon as a deluxe reference book, in which Westeros’ most infamous family – and their dragons – come to life in partnership with some truly incredible artists.”

The Rise of the Dragon, according to the author, is written in a more encyclopedic style. Elio M. Garca, Jr. and Linda Antonsson, authors of The World of Ice and Fire, wrote the new book, Martin confirms.
Fans who have been waiting for The Winds of Winter will be happy to hear that George R.R. Martin hasn’t stopped writing it. The Rise of the Dragon, on the other hand, appears to be coming out far sooner than A Song of Ice and Fire Book Six.
In October of 2022, The Rise of the Dragon will be released. The release date for House of the Dragon has not yet been announced.
