Two Law Enforcement Officers Were Shot In Philadelphia
The Benjamin Franklin Parkway, where thousands of people had congregated for a music and fireworks display, had been closed off by the police. After the gunfire went out, the audience was seen running in different directions. Officers issued the directive to remain in place and take cover.
A bullet brushed the head of one cop while the second officer was struck in the shoulder. Both officers were injured.
Both were transported to the hospital, but they were eventually allowed to go home. The investigation into who and why the rounds were fired by the police is still ongoing.

“At this point, it’s still too early to tell. We don’t know if this was a ricochet from celebratory gunfire. We don’t know if this was intentional. We don’t know if this was someone taking a shot intentionally at these officers from long range. But again, as I said, we are all just extremely grateful that this wasn’t worse,” said Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw.
The suspect in the shooting is still being sought by the authorities.
