Days of Our Lives Will Move to Peacock
“This programming shift benefits both Peacock and NBC and is reflective of our broader strategy to utilize our portfolio to maximize reach and strengthen engagement with viewers,” Mark Lazarus, Chairman, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said in a statement.
For Lazarus, “this move allows us to build the loyal fan base of ‘Days of Our Lives’ on streaming while simultaneously enhancing the network’s daytime offering with an urgent, live programming opportunity for partners and consumers.”
The show’s time slot will be filled by NBC News Daily, which will debut on NBC stations on September 12.
By virtue of the network’s statement, viewers can expect “signature world-class reporting and breaking news coverage” from Kate Snow, Aaron Gilchrist, Vicky Nguyen, and Morgan Radford in an hour-long show.
In addition, NBC News NOW and Peacock will broadcast the show live simultaneously as it airs on NBC.
Days of Our Lives, a Corday Productions Inc. and Sony Pictures Television production, premiered on NBC in 1965. A renewal for seasons 57 and 58 on NBC in 2021 marked the show’s 55th anniversary.
