Chainsaw Man Anime Will Premiere in October
Makima, one of the show’s main characters, walks into a warehouse filled with mutilated bodies in the trailer’s opening shot. A series of shots of Denji and his fellow Devil hunters Aki Hayakawa and Power and Makima going about their daily lives is intercut with scenes showing a transformed Denji dodging attacks and hacking at Devils with his chainsaw hands.
The series follows Denji, a teenage orphan who lives in a world populated by Devils, supernatural monsters born out of human irrational fears.
Pochita, Denji’s pet Chainsaw Devil, is compelled to work as a Devil hunter to repay the debt left by his father’s absence. A betrayed Denji makes a contract with Pochita, fusing the creature with his dying heart to transform into Chainsaw Man, a terrifyingly powerful Devil-human hybrid with the ability to summon chainsaws from his body.
Public Safety, the manga’s first arc, will be the subject of the anime, which ended on Dec. 14, 2020. On Tuesdays, new chapters of the Chainsaw Man manga are published on Shonen Jump and can be read for free.
