I.S.S. is a new thriller that Bleecker Street has unveiled, with a January 2024 release date in the works. As a global conflict erupts on Earth, the film shows astronauts from both the United States and Russia stationed aboard the International Space Station.
As the astronauts on both sides try to make sense of what’s happening while still in space, tension and distrust naturally rise among them.

Following the outbreak of a global battle on Earth, “tensions flare in the near future aboard the International Space Station,” according to the official summary. As a result, orders were sent down to the astronauts from below: use whatever means were required to seize control of the station.
Working from Nick Shafir’s Blacklist script, director Gabriela Cowperthwaite assembles an A-list cast that includes Oscar winner Ariana DeBose, Chris Messina, Pilou Asbaek, John Gallagher Jr., Costa Ronin, and Masha Mashkova.
The film is a high-stakes thriller within the International Space Station and follows astronauts as they face terrifying and fateful missions.
Blackfish (2013), Megan Leavey (2017), and Our Friend (2019) starring Jason Segel, Dakota Johnson, and Casey Affleck are all films that Cowperthwaite is recognized for directing. Similarly, DeBose has starred in a number of films and television shows, including Disney’s Wish, Schmigadoon! on AppleTV+, Westworld on HBO, and 2021’s West Wide Story.
Who is in the Cast of I.S.S.?
I.S.S. features a mixed cast of American and Russian actors because the plot revolves around a group of American and Russian astronauts who find themselves stranded on a space station.
John Gallagher Jr. plays Christian, Chris Messina plays Gordon Barrett, and Ariana DeBose plays Dr. Kira Foster on the American side. The Russian side is well-represented with Pilou Asbaek as Alexey Pulov, Costa Ronin as Nicholai, and Masha Mashkova as Weronika.
