When Will Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Air And Where to Watch?
The show Pretty Little Liars was a cultural shift. It has remained the most popular show on Freeform since its debut in 2010 and is currently the network’s most popular show ever. The show is inspired by Sara Shepard’s Young-Adult novels.
Since the original series ended in 2013, two spin-offs have aired: the spooky Ravenswood in 2013 and the follow-up series The Perfectionists in 2019, but both have only one season. Now, The PLL Universe is about to undergo a total reboot.
There’s been a lot of anticipation for Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin to arrive since it was announced in the fall of 2020. “Dark” and “horror-tinged” have been used to describe the drama, which is set in a new location and has new people.
Original Sin, the next season of Pretty Little Liars, is on the way, and we’re not holding back. Below we have mentioned everything you need to know about the much-anticipated reboot.
What Is the Storyline of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin?
PLL fans know that all the prior seasons in the PLL Universe have been connected to the original series in some way, either by sharing characters or by continuing the story. In Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, a new generation of Little Liars will be introduced to the show’s universe.
As per the original synopsis, “Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls — a brand-new set of Little Liars — find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago…as well as their own.”
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Riverdale and Lindsay Calhoon Bring, who worked on CAOS as a staff writer, are behind the reboot, which has been defined as dark, modern, and “horror-tinged.”
Aguirre-Sacasa and Calhoon Bring said, “We’re such huge fans of what I. Marlene King and her iconic cast created, we knew that we had to treat the original series as #canon and do something different. So we’re leaning into the suspense and horror in this reboot, which hopefully will honor what the fans loved about the hit series while weaving in new, unexpected elements.”
It was revealed by Aguirre-Sacasa in an interview that fans of the original series will still get a taste of Rosewood. “We love the idea that Rosewood exists. We reference it. There are Easter eggs throughout the season.”
Where Can I Watch Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin?
Original Sin will be accessible to stream on HBO Max, the same platform that hosts other popular teen dramas such as Gossip Girl, Generation, and Euphoria, as well as the Freeform cable channel that aired the original Pretty Little Liars series.
HBO MAX’S Head of Original Content, Sarah Aubrey said, “Roberto and Lindsay are expanding the Pretty Little Liars universe with more murder, mysteries, and scandal, and we can’t wait.”
Warner Bros. has released the first teaser for the show, which you can watch below.
Who All Are the Cast Members of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin?
The prospect of a new PLL quintet is one of the most enticing aspects of a fresh PLL storyline. In Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, Bailee Madison, Chandler Kinney, Maia Reficco, Malia Pyles, and Zaria Simone will portray Imogen, Tabby, Noa, Faran, and Minnie as the five new Little Liars. All of the Liars are described as final girls who each have a secret to hide in their backgrounds.
Imogen, a teenage mother who is touted as a “genuine survivor,” will be played by Bailee Madison. “Imogen will lead the group in learning the truth about “A” as the girls struggle for their lives.”
A “horror movie fan” and budding director, Tabby is played by Chandler Kinney.
A sarcastic high school track star who spent her summer in juvenile jail will be played by Maia Reficco.
Faran, played by Zaria, is a gifted ballerina with a calm demeanor who is determined to escape Millwood. Aside from “A,” Faran will have to deal with ballet’s microaggression-filled culture.
Minnie, the youngest Little Liars, is played by Malia Pyles. Minnie “spends most of her time in a virtual world” due to a traumatic childhood experience, but that doesn’t imply she lacks the ability to defeat “A.”
Among the young cast members are Mallory Bechtel, who plays Millwood High’s resident cruel girl Karen, Carson Rowland plays a film enthusiast who has feelings for Tabby, and Jordan Gonzalez plays Ash, a trans student who has feelings for Minnie.
When Can We Expect Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin to Premiere?
Fans should expect the series to premiere in the summer of 2022, despite the lack of official premiere date. In August 2021, the series began filming in Upstate New York, and the production is still ongoing.
