Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Launched: The next generation of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 processor is now available. The newest premium smartphones from OnePlus, Xiaomi, Vivo, Realme, iQOO, and many more Android phone manufacturers will be powered by the new chipset. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 launched at a summit.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Launched
The Snapdragon Summit 2022 was where the new chip was unveiled to the public. Qualcomm claims that the new chip has a CPU that is 35% faster, a GPU that is 25% faster, and artificial intelligence that is up to 435% faster. Ray Tracing is also a major improvement for mobile phone games. Wi-Fi 7 and support for Always-Sensing Camera and Dynamic Spatial Audio are built into the chipset as well. The chipset’s 4nm design philosophy has been maintained by the company.
To date, Qualcomm has confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be used by the following companies: ASUS Republic of Gamers, HONOR, iQOO, Motorola, nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, RED MAGIC, Redmi, SHARP, Sony Corporation, vivo, Xiaomi, XINGJI/MEIZU, and ZTE. It is expected that the first smartphones equipped with the new chipset will be released by the year’s end.
“We are passionate about enabling people to do more, so we design Snapdragon with the user at the centre. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, will revolutionize the landscape of flagship smartphones in 2023,” said Chris Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of mobile handsets, at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 delivers groundbreaking AI, unparalleled connectivity, and champion-level gameplay, enabling consumers to enhance every experience on their most trusted device.”
Features Of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has full system-wide AI integration thanks to the company’s developments in the field. The new Qualcomm Hexagon Processor improves upon previous generations by enabling rapid natural language processing, multilingual translation, and cutting-edge AI camera functions. Improvements to the architecture of the Hexagon processor, such as micro tile inferencing and a larger tensor accelerator, can boost AI performance by as much as 4.35 times.
This new platform is the first of its kind to use a cognitive ISP to provide a camera experience that rivals that of professional equipment. The camera on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is supposedly contextually aware of faces, facial features, hair, clothes, skies, and more thanks to AI neural network-powered semantic segmentation.
For “professional image tuning,” the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip will optimise each image independently. The second generation Snapdragon 8 is optimised for use with modern cameras. The first image sensor with 200 megapixels designed specifically for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is Samsung’s ISOCELL HP3.
In the gaming world, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 introduces new Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, such as real-time hardware-accelerated ray tracing, which should make mobile games look more like they were designed for the real world in terms of how realistically they simulate light, reflections, and illuminations.
So, it’s finally official then.
