Episodes 7 and 8 of the third season of the critically acclaimed television series “The Chosen” were the weekend’s ninth highest-grossing films. The film made $3.6 million thanks to Fathom Events’ weekend-long screenings.
With $1.67 million from 1,940 theatres on Thursday alone, the film surpassed the latest “Avatar” feature, “Avatar: The Way of Water,” to become the highest-grossing film of the day, according to a report by Deadline.
For the most successful crowdfunded series ever, creator Dallas Jenkins claims no money was spent on advertising. The large turnout caught him off guard.
