Apple has officially announced when its annual WWDC event and keynote will take place. This year, the event will only happen online from June 6 to June 10. WWDC 2022 Will happen?
Apple says the following can be expected at WWDC 2022: Apple said today that its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be held online from June 6 to June 10 and that all developers will be able to attend for free. WWDC22 will show off the latest innovations in iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. It will also give developers access to Apple engineers and technologies so they can learn how to make innovative apps and interactive experiences.

The vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations and Enterprise and Education Marketing at Apple, Susan Prescott, added:
“At its core, WWDC has always been a place where people can meet and get to know each other. In this spirit, WWDC22 is bringing together developers from all over the world to talk about how to make their best ideas come to life and push the limits of what’s possible. We love getting to know our developers, and we hope that everyone who comes to our events leaves feeling energized.”
Even though the headline says “all-online,” Apple says WWDC 2022 will have a small in-person component:
Along with the online conference, Apple will host a special day at Apple Park on June 6 for developers and students to watch the keynote and State of the Union videos together.
Apple adds that there will be a limited number of spots, and soon the Apple Developer site and the app will have information about how to apply to go.
Apple says that compared to the last two years of virtual WWDC events, this year there will be “more information sessions, more cutting-edge learning labs, more digital lounges to interact with attendees, and more localized content to make WWDC22 a truly global event.”
What To Expect From WWDC 2022?
Apple will hold its State of the Union and Apple Design Award events at WWDC 2022. There will also be online sessions, one-on-one labs for developers, and many other ways for developers to talk to Apple engineers and designers.
We expect Apple to put a lot of attention on its software platforms at this year’s WWDC, as it always does. This is likely to include the release of iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, macOS 13, and tvOS 16. The company will probably also release beta versions of these new operating systems for developers at that time.

This year, it’s also possible that new hardware for developers will be announced at WWDC. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg says that Apple could announce its next set of Macs with Apple Silicon in May or June. It seems very likely that these new Macs will be shown off at WWDC in June.
