Sam Westmoreland Cause of Death: Mississippi State Player Was Found Dead In A Church
Sam Westmoreland, a defensive back for Mississippi State University, passed away last Wednesday, the school reported. They promised to look into the death alongside the Oktibbeha County police and the university administration.

Someone from the police department confirmed that the body was discovered at a church; specifically, the Blackjack Missionary Baptist Church in Starkville. They have not disclosed the reason for death yet.
However, they stressed that there was “no basis to assume foul play at this time. The University of Mississippi issued a statement. The institution has expressed shock over Westmoreland’s death and stated its desire to collaborate with Oktibbeha County authorities in order to investigate.
“The Mississippi State Athletics family is saddened by the sudden death of Sam Westmoreland,” Bulldogs coach Mike Leach said in a statement.
